thank y'all for the kind words! typing very slow with one hand and lortab (yes, i finally wimped out and got my scrip for real pin-killers), so sorry i can't thank you all individually. about to sit down and watch a movie, probably early to sleep... which really sucks, by the way, trying to get in to bed when the giant area of bruised ribs and you'd be surprised how many muscles are attached to your shoulder...

later!

EEEK

recover quickly. I've torn rib muscles and jacked up a shoulder (on different occasions) and it really hurts to even move, much less breathe.

Had an injured shoulder. Sympathies. I'm sure adding bruised ribs doesn't make it hurt less. (But Lortab does...)

What have I missed? What the hell happened, Chris. You didn't sign THAT many autographs at the Campbell Conference, did you?

If you need anything let me know. I recommend calling, fewer keys to press.

Is not wimping out. When you've got that much damage, Elvis-Brand® Drugs* help you relax enough that your body can work on healing without having to deal with all that twitching and grimacing and such. I know you've got way too much to do, but you need to just take a couple of days and chill, otherwise it will take a lot longer for you to heal.

Make sure L gets you some nice arnica pills and arnica gel. Herbal remedy for bruising. I use it when I do something particularly bad.

And definitely take pain meds! Suffering does not help anything.

Yes, pain meds are your VERY good friends for at least a few days.

Oh yeah, and if the physical therapist makes you do painful things with your shoulder, do them and try not to complain too much. If you don't do them you can end up having to do even MORE painful things over a much longer period of time. And you might discover that a recliner can be a good place to sleep with an injured shoulder -- easier to get into a good position and get back up again.

Yes, that's the voice of experience. No, you probably don't want to hear about it until you get better. Trust me on this.

I hear about your accident. Feel better sooooon.

Missed you at the Institute today!

We're thinking of stopping by with get-well offerings... would that be okay, or are you super laid-up?

Please get well soon!

You can view your acromioclavicular separation as a failed attempt at budding—your body was really just trying to divide into two awesome copies of itself. *nods*

Better luck next time!

Ditto those who explained why "Real Pain-Killers" are necessary for injuries. Also are muscle relaxers, a tense muscle can't heal properly because the blood cannot flow into all the little torn bits and nourish the healing process.

TAke yer meds, dammit. :)
