What do you think happens next? What's in there? Is this curious squirrel about to embark on an adventure into places we can only imagine? Is this the transformational moment in Squirreldom?

I love this guy's art, how each piece suggests an entire story, usually something magical. I discovered Chris Buzelli because of the art he painted for Kij Johnson's creepy new story, "Ponies."

If you like this piece, check out his galleries.

Clearly, that's Ringo from the cafe scene in Pulp Fiction. The acorn may or may not contain Marcellus Walrus' soul.

Duh.

Later, the squirrel and its family confront another troupe of squirrels over a cache of cashews. They fight, and our hero uses an acorn cap as a helmet to protect himself, while beating one of the opponents to death with a piece of shell. Chittering madly, he tosses the shard into the air, where it morphs into a spaceship about to dock with a giant hamster-wheel space station in Earth orbit, to Alvin and the Chipmunks' version of "The Blue Danube Waltz."

::blink blink::

Based on the disturbing nature of his other work, I assume something positively Lovecraftian happens next.

Good luck, little buddy!

Naturally you'd see that! :-D

He'll do great things, so maybe more Tolkienian than Lovecraftian, mehopes.
