Okay, LJ power-users: Why does the Quote button go away after the first person posts a comment?

Aha! CR discovered you need to click "More Options." Irritating to have to extra-click, but the feature is handy. I'll leave all these experiment comments here for your edifications, all.

If I had to guess, I'd say the LJ crew did this cuz otherwise people could misleadingly quote whatever the hell they wanted to from whatever the hell thread they wanted to into whatever thread they wanted to at whatever level. The other thing "More Options..." does is take you to a page where only what you are replying to can be seen on the screen, so you don't get to play fast and loose with quoting whatever.

No, they did this because they have no clue on how to design an interface. Maybe the MovableType folks will straigten them out.

BTW--I always see the Quote button, but I'm replying in my style and not the default LJ style.
