This is interesting: a pill which eliminates the period while the woman takes it over a 4-month-duration. Imagine, only having a period every 4 months...

ugh. There's just something wrong with making a woman's normal body functions into something to be "treated" or eliminated. I wonder about the long-term effects, and I know I have many myself, from taking something to this extreme. There's a good reason why our bodies slough off the unneeded cells, and it's not really that much of a bother for most women, despite the rantings of the ones who do have problems.
Granted, lots of women have problems, but in the overall picture, I'm one of the happy-with-my-normal-cycles types, even after having the tubal ligation years ago.
Think of it in this way:
How about a pill that eliminates that messy ejaculation that men have? I mean, if there's no reason to be pregnant, why would we need it?

Sure, it's not about the mess -- I just posted this for some women I know who suffer really painful and irregular periods.

I getcha. I just get bent about the whole thing.
As Misia said, there's something wrong with the whole picture.
Painful and irregular periods are often caused by some sort of drug or chemical that was induced into the body, and that's just not fair for the women who suffer it.
