This is interesting: a pill which eliminates the period while the woman takes it over a 4-month-duration. Imagine, only having a period every 4 months...

This is just a repackaging of regular birth control pills.

Lots of women "in the know" have been doing this for years, by just skipping the sugar pills every month and starting a new package.

ugh. There's just something wrong with making a woman's normal body functions into something to be "treated" or eliminated. I wonder about the long-term effects, and I know I have many myself, from taking something to this extreme. There's a good reason why our bodies slough off the unneeded cells, and it's not really that much of a bother for most women, despite the rantings of the ones who do have problems.
Granted, lots of women have problems, but in the overall picture, I'm one of the happy-with-my-normal-cycles types, even after having the tubal ligation years ago.
Think of it in this way:
How about a pill that eliminates that messy ejaculation that men have? I mean, if there's no reason to be pregnant, why would we need it?

Strange how those of us who *don't* normally have a period every month are told we need to be put on a pill to *make* us have a period every month to avoid the risk of endometrial basal cell dysplasia that is (so we're told) endemic to not shedding your endometrial lining on a regular basis and which (so we're told) often leads to uterine cancer...

...and yet apparently this isn't true for women who normally have a period every month, so it's somehow magically okay for them to only menstruate 3x a year?

I don't buy it -- either way. I think someone's being lied to in the name of pharmaceutical profit, and I think it's women as a collective class.

amen

The whole medical system gets out of whack because they pretend to know all the answers despite f***ing up. Really ticks me off pretending to be helpful and healing when all they care about is how much money that goes into their pockets.

Sure, it's not about the mess -- I just posted this for some women I know who suffer really painful and irregular periods.

I getcha. I just get bent about the whole thing.
As Misia said, there's something wrong with the whole picture.
Painful and irregular periods are often caused by some sort of drug or chemical that was induced into the body, and that's just not fair for the women who suffer it.
